Course Overview

CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), also commonly known as the Aged Care Course or the Disability Course, is suitable for individuals who want to obtain the latest nationally recognised qualification for caregivers and support workers and develop their career in the Aged and Community care sector.

Course Structure

The following 15 units of competency are required to be completed:

Core Units:

  1. CHCCCS041 Recognise healthy body systems
  2. HLTINF006 Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control
  3. HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
  4. CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
  5. CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  6. CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically
  7. CHCCCS031 Provide individualised support
  8. CHCCCS038 Facilitate the empowerment of people receiving support
  9. CHCCCS040 Support independence and wellbeing 

Elective Units:

  1. CHCAGE011 Provide support to people living with dementia
  2. CHCAGE013 Work effectively in aged care
  3. CHCPAL003 Deliver care services using a palliative approach
  4. CHCDIS011 Contribute to ongoing skills development using a strengths-based approach
  5. CHCDIS012 Support community participation and social inclusion
  6. CHCDIS020 Work effectively in disability support

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Minimum Age to Apply Students must be 18 years or older.
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) Students from non-English speaking backgrounds must provide evidence of upper intermediate proficiency in English with an IELTS total band score of at least 5.5 with no band less than 5.0, or equivalent.
