Course Overview

The Diploma of Yoga Teaching allows you to build on the CIV Yoga towards becoming a Specialist Yoga Teacher. You will deepen your knowledge and skills with advanced subjects of Yoga, meditation and philosophy. You will learn the principles of Yoga Therapy and how to deal with students who have special needs and chronic conditions. You will also undertake learning on Yoga for the stages of life including yoga for pregnancy, children’s yoga and yoga for the aged.
The Diploma of Yoga Teaching course will prepare you to:
  • Develop courses and programs utilising advanced Yoga techniques
  • Conduct Yoga lifestyle and nutritional assessments
  • Adapt yoga for different life stages including pregnancy, children and the aged. Conduct Yoga classes for students with chronic conditions or special needs
  • Undertake research in yoga projects
  • Apply Yoga philosophy concepts in yoga classes, workshops and retreats.
  • Deliver first aid.

Course Structure

The Diploma of Yoga Teaching is made up of the following 13 units of competencies, which are made up of 9 core and 4 elective units:

  1. YOGTCH005 Adapt yoga to meet different life stages
  2. YOGTCH006 Adapt yoga to meet special needs
  3. YOGTCH007 Teach advanced asana techniques
  4. YOGTCH008 Teach advanced pranayama techniques
  5. YOGTCH009 Teach advanced meditation and relaxation techniques
  6. YOGTCH010 Make yoga lifestyle assessments
  7. YOGTCH011 Refine yoga philosophy
  8. CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  9. HLTHPS010 Interpret and use information about nutrition and diet
  10. BSBESB401 Research and develop business plans
  11. CHCPOL003 Research and apply evidence to practice
  12. CHCCCS001 Address the needs of people with chronic disease
  13. HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements Prerequisites for entry into the course requires that students must have attained the ten core units from 10696NAT Certificate IV in Yoga Teaching, which are:
  • CHCCOM006 Establish and manage client relationships
  • CHCLEG003 Manage legal and ethical compliance
  • HLTWHS004 Manage work health and safety
  • HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems
  • CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice
  • HLTAID011 Provide first aid
  • YOGTCH001 Develop and maintain yoga practice
  • YOGTCH002 Plan and organise yoga classes
  • YOGTCH003 Teach basic yoga techniques
  • YOGTCH004 Apply anatomy and physiology to yoga teaching

Additionally international applicants must provide evidence of completing at least the equivalent of Australian Year 12,

Minimum Age to Apply Be at least 18 years of age.
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) ALG requires an English proficiency level of IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent), with no individual band under 5.5.
English Language Requirements A prospective student does not need to provide evidence of an English test score with their application if one of the following applies:
  • Prospective student is a citizen and holds a passport from UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland.
  • Prospective student has completed at least 5 years’ study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.
  • Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO.
