Course Overview

This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for specialist or managerial job roles in the production horticulture industry including owner, farm manager, head grower, crop manager, section manager, dispatch manager, sales manager, marketing manager and specialist consultants. Individuals with this qualification will take personal responsibility and exercise autonomy in undertaking complex work. They must analyse information and exercise judgement to complete a range of advanced skilled activities. Work must comply with work health and safety and environmental regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.

Course Structure

To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 10 units of competency:

  • 5 core units
  • 5 elective units.

Consistent with the qualification packaging rules.

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements All international students must have completed Satisfactory completion of Senior secondary school certificate (Year 12 or its equivalent) overseas qualification. 
Minimum Age to Apply All international students must be at least 18 years old at the time of course application. 
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum)
  • Have obtained an IELTS band score of at least 5.5 or equivalent

OR

  • 5.0 where the test score is combined with at least 10 weeks ELICOS or 4.5 where the test score is combined with at least 20 weeks
