Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have established specialised skills in a technical ICT function.

Individuals in these roles carry out moderately complex tasks in specialist fields, working independently, as part of a team or leading deliverables with others. They may apply their skills across a wide range of industries, business functions and departments, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor).

Course Structure

To achieve this qualification students must successfully complete the following 20 units of competency:

Core Units

  1. BSBCRT512 Originate and develop concepts
  2. BSBXCS402 Promote workplace cyber security awareness and best practices
  3. BSBXTW401 Lead and facilitate a team
  4. ICTICT517 Match ICT needs with the strategic direction of the organisation
  5. ICTICT532 Apply IP, ethics and privacy policies in ICT environments
  6. ICTSAS527 Manage client problems 

Elective Units

  1. ICTWEB452 Create a mark-up language document
  2. ICTICT443 Work collaboratively in the ICT industry
  3. ICTSAD507 Design and implement quality assurance processes for business solutions
  4. ICTNWK546 Manage network security
  5. ICTSAD508 Develop technical requirements for business solutions
  6. ICTCYS407 Gather, analyse and interpret threat data
  7. ICTNWK560 Determine best-fit topologies for wide area networks
  8. ICTCYS610 Protect critical infrastructure for organisations
  9. ICTCYS613 Utilise design methodologies for security architecture

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements Have successfully completed the equivalent of Year 12
Minimum Age to Apply All students must be at least 18 years of age or over at the time of enrolment. 
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum)

Have an IELTS* score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:

educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or

successful completion of an English Placement Test.

 

*Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS 6.0.
