Course Overview

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

Course Structure

CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care consists of fifteen units (15) units of competency, comprising 12 core units and 3 elective units.

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements Year 12 or equivalent with  a pass of 60% in best four academic subjects and no study gap.


Minimum Age to Apply Must be 18 years of age or above at the time of enrolment

Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) IELTS score 6.0 minimum (no lower than 5.5 in each band) or equivalent

Students are required to complete 240 hours mandatory work placement to complete CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

All students are required to evidence the following documentation prior to undertaking mandatory work placement

  • Current and satisfactory police check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current First Aid Certificate
