This qualification reflects the role of individuals who diagnose, analyse, evaluate, design and modify vehicle systems in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.

The following 12 units of competency must be completed in order to achieve this qualification:

  1. AURAFA006 Conduct research and present technical reports
  2. AURLTB002 Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle braking systems
  3. AURLTD007 Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle steering and suspension systems
  4. AURLTE003 Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle engine and fuel systems
  5. AURTNA001 Estimate and quote automotive vehicle or machinery modifications
  6. AURETE001 Analyse and evaluate electrical and electronic faults in engine management systems
  7. MSMENV672 Develop workplace policy and procedures for environmental sustainability
  8. AURETB002 Analyse and evaluate electrical and electronic faults in dynamic control management systems
  9. AURLTQ003 Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle transmission and driveline systems
  10. AURTTA021 Diagnose complex system faults
  11. AURLTB004 Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle braking systems

Admission Requirements
Minimum Age to Apply
18 years and above.
Academic Entry Requirements
Those undertaking the Diploma of Automotive Technology must have completed an automotive Certificate IV qualification in one of the following disciplines or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency:

  • AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis
  • AUR40816 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling

IELTS Score (Minimum)
Minimum IELTS band 5.5 or equivalent
