Course Overview

FNS50222 – Diploma of Accounting reflects professional accounting job roles in financial services and other industries, including tax agents, accounts payable and accounts receivable officers, payroll service providers, and employees performing a range of accounting tasks for organisations in a range of industries. Individuals in these roles apply solutions to a range of often complex problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They apply initiative to plan, coordinate and evaluate their own work and provide guidance to others within defined guidelines.

The following 11 units of competency are required to achieve this qualification:

Core Units:

  1. FNSACC511 Provide financial and business performance information
  2. FNSACC512 Prepare tax documentation for individuals
  3. FNSACC513 Manage budgets and forecasts
  4. FNSACC514 Prepare financial reports for corporate entities
  5. FNSACC516 Implement and maintain internal control procedures
  6. FNSACC517 Provide management accounting information

Elective Units:

  1. BSBCRT511 Develop critical thinking in others
  2. FNSACC601 Prepare and administer tax documentation for legal entities
  3. BSBLDR413 Lead effective workplace relationships
  4. FNSINC601 Apply economic principles to work in the financial services industry
  5. FNSINC602 Interpret and use financial statistics and tools

Academic Entry Requirements

Direct entry into this course requires successful completion of:

  • FNSSS00014 – Accounting Principles Skill Set; or
  • FNS40217 – Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent; or its superseded versions (FNS40215 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting) or their equivalent.

Additionally, all students except domestic RPL candidates are required to undertake an LLN test prior to the commencement of their course. 


Minimum Age to Apply Students must be at least 18 years old or above.

A minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent is required.
