Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work as master diagnostic technicians the automotive service and repair industry; servicing, diagnosing and repairing vehicle electrical systems and components. A range of advanced electrical diagnostic skills and knowledge is necessary, and leadership and supervision of others would be expected.

Course Structure

The following 10 units must be completed:

  1. AURTTA121 Diagnose complex system faults
  2. AURETR104 Diagnose complex faults in convenience and entertainment systems
  3. AURTNA001 Estimate and quote automotive vehicle or machinery modifications
  4. AURTTA125 Diagnose complex faults in vehicle integrated stability control systems
  5. AURETR139 Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle theft-deterrent system
  6. AURATA005 Estimate and quote automotive mechanical and electrical repairs
  7. AURAQA002 Inspect technical quality of work in an automotive workplace
  8. AURTTR101 Diagnose complex faults in engine management systems
  9. BSBWHS411 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
  10. AURETR137 Diagnose complex faults in light vehicle safety systems

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements Students must have successfully completed (AUR30320) Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency. 
Minimum Age to Apply Sheffield requires that all students must be 18 years of age or above at the commencement of the course.

Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum)

Must have an IELTS overall band of 5.5 or equivalent. 

Those who do not meet the minimum IELTS requirement will be referred to an accredited English Language Training provider to undertake an English Language course prior to commencing this qualification.
