Ideally you will be working in aged care services so that you can build on the skills learnt in the Certificate III in Individual Support.

This qualification will allow you to advance in your career in aged care, by preparing you to support elderly clients in specialised tasks and functions but also in a variety of settings.

By completing this aged care course you will build a foundation for supervising other support workers, advocating for the elderly within a caring and legal and ethical framework.

Course Structure

The Certificate IV in Ageing Support is made up of the following 18 units of competencies, which are made up of 15 core and 3 elective units:

Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum)	ALG requires an English proficiency level of IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent), with no individual band under 5.0.
English Language Requirements	A prospective student does not need to provide evidence of an English test score with their application if one of the following applies: Prospective student is a citizen and holds a passport from UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland. Prospective student has completed at least 5 years’ study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland. Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO.

Internship or Work Placements

A 150 hour work placement will be undertaken in your last term of study. In this work placement you will be learning and practicing the skills you will be able to use in your own workplace. In order to successfully complete this component of your study, you will have to have a successful supervisor report, work place visit from a trainer and assessor and also submit a competent work placement log book.
