Course Overview

The Certificate IV in Ageing Support reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services, either in residential, home or community-based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.
Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements Have completed an equivalent secondary schooling level of a Higher School Certificate (year 12 in Australian schools) or can demonstrate suitable work or life experience.

Minimum Age to Apply Students must be 18 years of age or older.
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) Demonstrate good command of written and spoken English and verified evidence of IELTS Level 5.5 or equivalent

Internship or Work Placements

Students will complete 160 hours (8 weeks) of work placement. Placements will be in an aged care facility. New Era Institute (NEI) has agreements with workplaces to provide suitable placements for students. Students are encouraged to look for their workplace facilities to complete their practical component.
