This course is an entry point of the Community Services stream of courses and prepares the students to have theoretical and practical knowledge and skills for specialised and/or skilled work and/or further learning.
Individuals in these roles carry out a mix of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community-based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.
Certificate IV in Ageing Support has 18 total units of competency that will be taught over the course of 52 weeks.
Teaching is conducted face-to-face, 20 hours per week in a classroom environment (or, equivalent hours of teaching and learning in an online or blended mode as a response to a pandemic such as COVID-19).
Ten hours each week of self-study is recommended during term time.
