Course Overview

Prepare for a truly fulfilling career within an ever-growing Aged Care sector – where there is an increasing demand for qualified professionals in an environment where people-centred support is critical. This ILearnOz course of study will prepare graduates for the delivery of:
  • Holistic Care
  • Emotional and Social support
  • Physical and Psychological well-being
  • Palliative care
  • Support for those with Dementia or other illnesses
In addition to an active classroom learning environment, students will consolidate their learning within industry facility placement settings, putting their theoretical knowledge into ‘rewarding’ practice – prior to securing permanent employment in Aged or Home Care settings

Course Structure

The following 13 units of competency are required to complete this course:

Core Units:

  1. CHCCCS015 Provide individualised support 
  2. CHCCCS023 Support independence and wellbeing 
  3. CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services 
  4. CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people 
  5. CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically 
  6. HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems 
  7. HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Elective Units:

  1. CHCAGE001 Facilitate the empowerment of older people 
  2. CHCCCS011 Meet personal support needs 
  3. CHCAGE005 Provide support to people living with dementia 
  4. CHCAGE002 Implement falls prevention strategies 
  5. HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures 
  6. CHCCCS025 Support relationships with carers and families

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Minimum Age to Apply iLearn Oz will only enrol students who are over 18 years of age at commencement of their course.

Academic Entry Requirements To enter this qualification, applicants should have successfully completed an equivalent of Australian year 12 or secondary studies in applicant’s home country.

Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum)

International students must demonstrate English language proficiency with minimum score of IELTS overall band of 5.5 (Academic), or equivalent. 


The test must have been taken no more than two years before you apply for iLearn Oz Courses.
English Language Requirements Alternatively, students can provide an evidence that:
  • They have studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States; or
  • Within two years of their application, they have successfully completed a foundation course or a senior secondary certificate of education or a substantial part of a Certificate III or higher level qualification from the Australian Qualifications Framework in Australia.

Internship or Work Placements

Students will be required to complete 120 hours of work placement. This is to be completed during Week 11 of each term at a time to suit the student and their work placement provider. Students must complete 30 hours of work placement during this time.

Work placement providers will be provided with a list of activities that students are to complete in the workplace to develop their skills. Assessment will also be conducted in the workplace by iLearn OZ trainer and assessor.
