Course Overview

The Certificate III in Fitness is your first step into the fitness industry. This national qualification allows you to be a ‘fitness instructor’. You will learn to assess, train and supervise clients in fitness centres and gyms.

Course Structure

The Certificate III in Fitness is made up of the following 15 units of competencies:

  1. SISFFIT032 Complete pre-exercise screening and service orientation
  2. SISFFIT033 Complete client fitness assessments
  3. SISFFIT035 Plan group exercise sessions
  4. SISFFIT052 Provide healthy eating information
  5. SISFFIT036 Instruct group exercise sessions
  6. SISFFIT040 Develop and instruct gym-based exercise programs for individual clients
  7. SISFFIT047 Use anatomy and physiology knowledge to support safe and effective exercise
  8. BSBOPS304 Deliver and monitor a service to customers
  9. BSBPEF301 Organise personal work priorities
  10. HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety
  11. BSBXTW301 Work in a team
  12. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  13. BSBLDR301 Support effective workplace relationships
  14. BSBSUS211 Participate in sustainable work practices

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements Provide evidence of completing at least the equivalent of Australian Year 10.
Minimum Age to Apply Be at least 18 years of age.
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) ALG requires an English proficiency level of IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent), with no individual band under 5.0.
English Language Requirements A prospective student does not need to provide evidence of an English test score with their application if one of the following applies:
  • Prospective student is a citizen and holds a passport from UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland.
  • Prospective student has completed at least 5 years’ study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.
  • Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO.
