Units of Study within this course are designed in consultation with the social work industry, this course is not only linked to employment, but also to creating competencies that lead to a rewarding, self-determined professional life. Students will be well placed to add significant social, cultural and economic value to society through entrepreneurial activities in social work (such as the development of charities and NGOs) and advocating for policies and practices that encourage the fair allocation of resources. Integrated field education is a core component of the BSW course, involving 1,000 hours of experience in work placements.

Academic Entry Requirements | Recent secondary education (within the past 2 years) with a completed Year 12 or equivalent with ATAR 60, or equivalent overseas qualification, or
A tertiary education qualification at AQF Level 5 (Diploma) or above, or equivalent, from an Australian University or other accredited higher education provider, or equivalent overseas qualification, or
Vocational education qualification at AQF Level 4 (Certificate IV) or above, or equivalent, from a registered training organisation (RTO), or equivalent overseas qualification.
For those with ATAR in the range of 60 to 70, additional evidence of commitment to 'social work' will be required. BSW Academic Entry Requirements (Onshore process):
1. Successful completion of Year 12 with a minimum achievement of 60%, or
2. Satisfactory completion of a tertiary education qualification at AǪF Level 5
(Diploma) or above from an accredited Australian Higher Education Provider, or
3. Satisfactory completion of a tertiary education qualification at AǪF level 5
(Diploma) or above qualification from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in
Australia, or an equivalent overseas qualification.
4. Students in option 2 or 3 should achieve at least 60% academic progress in
each enrolled semester with a minimum grade of 60% in the passing units.
5. If a student fails to achieve the required academic progress from the previous
onshore study, or he/she studied a course remotely related to social work, a oneon-one interview will be arranged and conducted by the admissions/ academic
team to discuss, and during the interview, the student is expected to write a state
of purpose (SOP) with words limit between 300 and 500.

Career Opportunities:
The BSW includes two placements totalling 1,000 hours. These placements are split into Field Education 1 (480 hours) and Field Education 2 (520 hours). Each field placement is split into 2 Units – that is, Field Education 1A (12 Credit) + Field Education 1B (6 Credit), and Field Education 2A (12Credit) + Field Education 2B (6 Credit), covering different aspects of social work.
