Course Overview

Data Scientist became a career occupation when companies worldwide determined a need for people skilled in organising massive amounts of data – people with expertise more significant than traditional data mining and programming skills. Organisations today want professionals with business acumen, analytic and programming skills, database capabilities, statistical and mathematical skills, storytelling, data visualisation and machine learning skills.
Data science is important because it solves business problems, such as: improving customer retention; improving product development; targeting customers with the right sales messages; understanding how people use products; analysing customer sentiment on social media; and financial modelling.
Data scientists today are aiding the decision-making process in companies of all sizes – small, medium and large, transforming organisations from reactive environments with static data to automated environments that continually learn in real time.
