Course Overview

This course is is specifically designed to give you the right skills and knowledge to work with people, and assist them in seeking solutions to a range of personal and social issues. Community Services Workers work in many aspects of people’s lives and may work with children and families, senior citizens, those living with disabilities, those suffering drug and alcohol dependency, those living with a mental illness and other areas within the community.

Course Structure

This course requires the completion of 16 units including 8 core units and 8 elective units.

  3. CHCDEV002 Analyse impacts of sociological factors on clients in community work and services
  4. CHCDIV003 Manage and promote diversity

  6. CHCMGT005 Facilitate workplace debriefing and support processes
  7. CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice
  8. HLTWHS004 Manage work health and safety
  9. CHCCCS009 Facilitate responsible behaviour
  10. CHCADV002 Provide advocacy and representation services
  11. CHCCDE012 Work within organisation and government structures to enable community development outcomes
  12. CHCDEV001 Confirm client developmental status
  13. CHCCSM005 Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management
  14. CHCCCS004 Assess co-existing needs
  15. CHCCSL002 Apply Specialist interpersonal and counselling interview skills

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Minimum Age to Apply
Must be 18 years or older
Academic Entry Requirements Relevant to work in the community sector or have sufficient experience and knowledge of community work or service.
All students must undertake the following:

Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum)
Upper intermediate level of English (IELTS Score of 5.5 or equivalent)
