Course Overview

This course gives students the theoretical knowledge and training in practical skills required to perform activities related to marine habitat conservation and restoration.
At this level, you learn how to conduct fieldwork and monitoring, take part in marine environmental assessments, plan, and present information on marine projects, problem-solve and examine case studies. Group activities and fieldtrips enable you to apply decision making skills, conduct small conservation and restoration projects, and share data and communicate information through basic reports.
This course focused on protecting our world, making a positive impact in existing habitats in our local areas.

Course Structure

The following 19 units of competency must be completed:

Core Units:

  1. MHCENV001 Provide information on coastal marine projects
  2. MHCENV002 Participate in planning marine environmental assessment
  3. MHCCON001 Plan for environmental conservation and restoration projects
  4. MHCCON002 Use tools to carry out basic tasks in marine conservation work
  5. MHCCON003 Install diversity enhancers
  6. MHCMON002 Perform line and belt transects for environmental monitoring
  7. MHCMON003 Perform quadrat sampling

  2. MHCSRN002 Undertake clam seeding

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements It is a condition of your enrolment that you have a suitable laptop computer to begin your course: a suitable laptop with Microsoft 2010.
Language Requirement
English Language Requirements Proof of minimum English level testing score suited to the correct level of study.
Envirotech English placement test is available for applicants from countries of low migration risk. Students with a lower level of English proficiency will be offered to enrol into our Partner ELICOS course to improve their English level and develop professional English communications skills.
